About Lawns By Murphy
Grounded in Experience. Growing with Purpose.
Lawns By Murphy has been a trusted name in Oklahoma soil since 1955. What started as a simple idea, providing better-quality materials for healthier landscapes, has grown into a full-service bulk supplier of compost, soil, and custom blends that meet the highest standards of performance.
We’re proud to say that many of the materials used across the region today, including our well-known Rich Mix, were developed and refined by our founders. Our legacy isn't just in the soil; it’s in the relationships, the results, and the deep roots we’ve built in this community.
Our Story
Founded in Oklahoma City over seven years ago, Lawns By Murphy began as a small, family-run operation with a clear mission: to make high-quality, natural soil accessible to homeowners and professionals alike. Over the decades, we’ve grown alongside the communities we serve, evolving our products while holding tight to our core values of honesty, consistency, and care.
We’re not a big-box supplier. We’re the team that knows your soil, understands Oklahoma’s climate, and offers real advice to get your project done right.

From mobile-friendly ordering to engineered and structural blends, we’ve modernized our services without losing the personal touch that built our reputation.
Still Family-Run. Still Focused on Quality.
Founders | Anne & Harry Murphy
Anne & Harry Murphy founded Lawns By Murphy. In 1943, Harry served in the United States Army Air Corps. After serving, Harry graduated from Oklahoma City University with a degree in business administration in 1950. That same year, Harry married Anne, rejoined the service, and moved to Japan with his newlywed wife. The two enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage and established both the first sod and tree farms in Oklahoma City.
From our founding generation to today’s team, we’ve stayed committed to producing clean, natural, and effective materials that stand the test of time. Whether you're building a backyard garden or managing a commercial landscape, our team is here to help you do it right—with the right soil, delivered right on time.
